I ask myself as I audibly
list the exact actions—
traits— moments— primed,
on speed dial for when
my insanity does call.
"Am I sane?"
I whisper, noting how
that very phrasing pins me
echoing the madness I just mentioned.
"But do I know a sane person?"
I probe the silence.
I hope not.
